Description
Canada's first major GHS deadline is just months away. Don't wait to get started on your compliance tasks! Canada officially adopted GHS on February 11, 2015 and implemented a series of phased-in compliance deadlines - the first of which is scheduled to go into effect on June 1, 2017. This session will provide a high level overview of Canada's adoption plans.

Objectives Of The Presentation
On completion of the webinar, you will have knowledge on:
  • An overview of WHMIS 2015
  • An overview of GHS and adoption timeline
  • Describe your duties and responsibilities as a manager or supervisor under WHMIS 2015 regulations
  • Identify the WHMIS classes and pictograms and their meanings
  • Recognize the types of information provided on supplier labels and workplace labels
  • Understand the information on safety data sheets and be able to find information on hazards and preventive measures
  • The four main purposes of an SDS:
    • Identification of the product and supplier
    • Hazard identification
    • Prevention
    • Response
  • Understand the importance of controlling hazards to protect employees working with hazardous products
Why Should you Attend
Canada has implemented WHMIS 2015, a national chemical classification and hazard communication standard for workplace chemicals. This course will help you understand and meet your health safety responsibilities as a manager or supervisor under WHMIS 2015. You will learn about your duties, pictograms and their meanings, product labels and safety data sheets (SDS). Practical advice and guidance on basic health and safety measures are also included so you can take steps to protect your workers and prevent injuries and illnesses.

WHMIS 2015 includes new standardized classification criteria, label requirements and safety data sheet requirements. As a manager or supervisor, you need to know your duties, ensure that your workers are trained, label all hazardous products properly and make sure up-to-date safety data sheets are accessible.

This new webinar helps to summarize key requirements for suppliers and others about WHMIS 2015 - such as hazard classes, pictograms, supplier labels and SDS headings. Participants will gain a better understanding of Health Canada's implementation of the GHS in Canada.
